14-year-old Ellie Yeater from West Virginia spent her summer vacation in a unique and creative way – by transforming an old 1974 camper into a stunning hangout spot. Using birthday money to purchase the camper, Ellie embarked on her dream project in the summer of 2016, despite the daunting task ahead.
With the camper’s furniture untouched since the 70s, Ellie knew she had her work cut out for her. With the help of her skilled renovator father and brother, she began by scraping the floors and removing the rot that had accumulated over the years. Undeterred by the challenge, Ellie pressed on, eager to bring her vision to life.
After the necessary repairs, Ellie turned her attention to the camper’s aesthetics. She opted for a bright and beautiful blue color called “mystic sea” for the exterior, while the interior received a fresh coat of peachy paint with aqua blue accents. With new wood-patterned flooring installed and handmade curtains, towels, and pillowcases sewn by her grandmother, Ellie’s transformation was complete.
In just one summer, Ellie had turned the old camper into her own private getaway, a space where she could relax and hang out with friends. Throughout the process, Ellie’s loved ones provided invaluable guidance and support, and they were rewarded with a standing invitation to visit her in her newly renovated camper.
Ellie’s accomplishment at the age of 14 is truly remarkable, showcasing what can be achieved with hard work, dedication, and a little bit of creativity. Her story serves as an inspiration to others to pursue their dreams and turn their visions into reality.
