Universal Pictures is moving forward with the development of Jason Bourne 6, with director Edward Berger reportedly in talks to lead the project.
Matt Damon, who has portrayed the iconic CIA assassin since the franchise’s inception, is expected to be approached to reprise his role as Bourne.
The Bourne series has seen Damon’s portrayal of the character across several successful films, with the latest installment being 2016’s Jason Bourne. While Jeremy Renner briefly took the lead in The Bourne Legacy, fans have long hoped for a crossover between Renner’s Aaron Cross and Damon’s Bourne. However, no official word on such a crossover has been announced.
Although the project is in its early stages, Damon is likely to be the first choice to return, pending the completion of a script. While Damon has acknowledged the possibility of being replaced in the future, Universal seems keen on retaining him as the face of the franchise. As development progresses, fans eagerly await updates and the potential for a future crossover between Damon and Renner’s characters.
