Barry Keoghan has sparked speculation about the potential return of The Joker in the upcoming sequel to Robert Pattinson’s DC film, The Batman. In an interview with Etalk, Keoghan was asked about the possibility of reprising the role of the infamous Clown in Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II.
Keoghan replied cryptically, “I can’t really say anything about that, my man, but it would be exciting, wouldn’t it? To see The Joker come to life again? My smile says it all, you know what I mean?”
Fans caught a glimpse of Keoghan’s Joker in a deleted scene from The Batman (2022), where he could be seen interacting with Robert Pattinson’s Batman.
While Pattinson is the only confirmed actor returning for The Batman Part II, it’s likely that Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, and Colin Farrell will reprise their roles. There’s speculation about the introduction of Dick Grayson, the original Robin, and the inclusion of Clayface in the sequel. Matt Reeves will direct and co-write the script with Mattson Tomlin.
Plot details are under wraps, but it’s confirmed that The Penguin spin-off series will set up the story. Reeves described The Batman Part II as continuing the “epic crime saga.” James Gunn clarified that Reeves’ “BatVerse” and the upcoming Joker sequel will exist separately from the DCU as “Elseworlds” movies.
In Batman: The Brave and the Bold, a new actor will portray Batman, alongside Damian Wayne as Robin. The Batman – Part II is scheduled for release on October 3, 2025.
