Billie Eilish made history at the 2024 Academy Awards by securing her second Oscar win at the young age of 22. Following her 2022 victory for Best Original Song with “No Time to Die,” written for the James Bond film, she clinched the same award again for her hit song “What Was I Made For?” featured in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie. This accomplishment officially crowns her as the youngest individual to snag more than one Academy Award.
During the ceremony, Billie expressed her disbelief and gratitude upon receiving the prestigious honor. She thanked the Academy and shared her appreciation for the song, the movie, and its impact on the audience. Alongside her brother and collaborator Finneas O’Connell, Billie accepted the statue onstage after embracing fellow attendees Greta Gerwig, Margot Robbie, and America Ferrera.
Earlier in the evening, Billie and Finneas delivered a live performance of “What Was I Made For?” showcasing their musical talents. The Oscars, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, promised an evening filled with star-studded presentations, with “Oppenheimer” leading the nominations with 13 nods.
