Fans have long awaited a sequel to Ivan Reitman’s 1988 classic, ‘Twins’, with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito set to reprise their roles in the previously announced sequel, ‘Triplets’. However, after director Ivan Reitman’s passing in early 2022, progress on the project came to a halt.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Schwarzenegger provided an update on the sequel, revealing that it’s still considered to be in development but hasn’t made any progress for over a year. Schwarzenegger expressed frustration, blaming Ivan Reitman’s son, Jason Reitman, for halting the project after his father’s death, despite their enthusiasm for it.
Schwarzenegger mentioned they had the financing and the confirmed cast, including Eddie Murphy and Tracy Morgan, but Jason Reitman’s disapproval put a hold on the project. Despite this setback, the cast and crew remain keen on the idea of bringing ‘Triplets’ to life.
As for Schwarzenegger’s upcoming projects, he is featured in the Netflix documentary ‘Arnold’, releasing on June 7th, which chronicles his career and life. Additionally, he stars in the upcoming Netflix comedy series ‘FUBAR’ alongside Monica Barbaro. However, ‘Triplets’, also known as ‘Twins 2’, is currently without a release date.
