Oscar-winning duo Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are reuniting for Netflix’s upcoming crime thriller “Animals.” Affleck, who previously directed Damon in the 2023 film “Air,” will once again take the helm, with Damon starring in the lead role.
The collaboration between Affleck and Damon stretches back decades, beginning with their on-screen partnership in 1992’s “School Ties” and their brief appearance together in 1989’s “Field of Dreams.” Their enduring friendship and creative partnership have resulted in several successful projects, including “The Last Duel,” “Chasing Amy,” “Dogma,” and the acclaimed “Good Will Hunting,” which earned them the Best Original Screenplay award at the 1998 Oscars.
“Animals,” produced by Affleck, Damon, and Dani Bernfeld under the Artist Equity company, is set to start filming in Los Angeles in March. The script, penned by Connor McIntyre and Billy Ray, follows a mayoral candidate whose son is kidnapped. Determined to uncover the truth, the candidate and his wife take matters into their own hands instead of relying on others.
Netflix’s “Animals” promises to be a gripping thriller, although a release date for the film has not yet been announced.
