Cillian Murphy has hinted at the possibility of reprising his role in Danny Boyle’s upcoming sequel to “28 Days Later.” While it’s not confirmed whether Murphy will return, he’s set to serve as an executive producer for the film.
During a discussion for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s Conversations program, Murphy reflected on his career and his initial perception of “28 Days Later.” He admitted that when he first took on the role, he didn’t see the film as a typical zombie movie, given the context of real-world events like the SARS outbreak and incidents of “air rage.”
Despite not having a confirmed role yet, Murphy expressed his availability for the sequel, sparking excitement among fans of the original film.
While details about the plot, characters, and production dates remain undisclosed, the sequel reportedly has a budget of $60 million and aims to kick off a trilogy of films written by Alex Garland, the writer of the original movie.
With Boyle at the helm, and Murphy potentially returning to reprise his role, anticipation for the next installment in the “28 Days Later” series continues to build, although an official release date for “28 Years Later” has yet to be announced.
