Despite its status as a beloved animated family franchise, not everyone is eager for the continuation of Shrek. Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo, stars of Poor Things, expressed their skepticism about the need for a new Shrek film during a game of “Agree to Disagree” on LADbible TV.
When asked whether the world needs a new Shrek film, both Stone and Ruffalo strongly agreed, albeit with a hint of uncertainty and humor. Stone playfully avoided further comment by saying, “We don’t want to comment on that. Next!”
In terms of their favorite Shrek movie, both actors unanimously chose the original, highlighting its enduring appeal.
As for the upcoming Shrek reboot, known as DreamWorks’ “Untitled Shrek Reboot,” details remain scarce. The last main installment, Shrek Forever After, released in 2010, making it over a decade since the franchise’s last entry. While it’s unclear who will return for Shrek 5, fans can anticipate a fresh storyline to reboot the series.
Shrek 5 has yet to announce its release date, leaving fans eager to see how the franchise will evolve.
