Emma Stone has offered a reassuring update on the highly anticipated sequel to Disney’s live-action ‘Cruella’ movie. Despite a lack of recent updates, Stone confirmed that the sequel is still in the works during a recent interview with Variety.
The original ‘Cruella,’ released in 2021, garnered critical acclaim and achieved success at the box office. Following its release, Disney officially announced plans for a sequel, with Stone set to reprise her role as the iconic villain Cruella de Vil.
Amidst concerns of potential delays or cancellation, Stone’s recent comments shed light on the sequel’s progress. While the script is still being developed, Stone expressed excitement about returning to the role of Cruella de Vil. She told Variety, “You tell me. Hopefully sooner, rather than later. There’s a work-in-progress kind of thing going on. Yeah, yeah. We’ll see… She’s a blast, so we’ll see. It’s a work in progress.”
Directed by Craig Gillespie, ‘Cruella’ is set against the backdrop of 1970s London’s punk rock movement and follows the journey of Estella Miller, portrayed by Stone, as she transforms into the notorious fashion designer Cruella de Vil.
In addition to Stone, the film features a talented cast including Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and Mark Strong in supporting roles.
While the untitled ‘Cruella’ sequel awaits a release date, the original film is available to stream on Disney+. Fans eagerly anticipate further updates on the continuation of Cruella’s captivating story.
