Keanu Reeves’ Constantine 2 gets a promising update from producer

Exciting news for fans of the supernatural detective – the long-awaited Constantine sequel starring Keanu Reeves may be gaining traction soon, according to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com while promoting Madame Web, di Bonaventura expressed optimism about the sequel’s prospects, stating, “I hope it does, because it’s a great character. Great in comic books, and it was great making that first movie. It’s such an alternative kind of character.” He further highlighted the appeal of the character’s uniqueness, drawing parallels to Madame Web’s singular journey.

Director Francis Lawrence previously indicated that development on the sequel was poised to resume after a brief hiatus due to external factors. Lawrence’s comments to The Hollywood Reporter last November suggested a renewed focus on cracking the sequel’s narrative, hinting at a potentially authentic R-rated experience.

Based on the Hellblazer graphic novels, the original 2005 film Constantine garnered a mixed critical reception but found success with audiences, ultimately achieving cult classic status. With Keanu Reeves reprising his role as the chain-smoking exorcist, fans eagerly await further details on the sequel’s storyline and characters.

Penned by Akiva Goldsman and produced by J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella, Constantine 2 promises to deliver another thrilling adventure into the dark and supernatural. As of now, however, the film’s release date remains undisclosed.
