Kristen Stewart Thinks Twilight Is “Such a Gay Movie”

Stewart notes that the ostensibly heterosexual storyline of Twilight now appears to have subtle queer elements, stating, “It’s such a gay movie. I mean, Jesus Christ, Taylor [Lautner] and Rob and me, and it’s so hidden and not OK.”

Stewart suggests that the background of author Stephenie Meyer, a Mormon woman, may have influenced the series’ undertones, focusing on themes of oppression and desire that align with a Gothic, gay inclination. In the same interview, Stewart reflects on her role as a LGBTQ+ role model in Hollywood, humorously acknowledging the prevalence of shared experiences within the community.
