Mark Ruffalo confirms Hulk’s return in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’

Editor’s Update: According to Variety, Mark Ruffalo will not be starring in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ and ‘misspoke’ when talking about the movie.

Despite initial excitement stirred by Mark Ruffalo’s comments, it appears there’s been a clarification regarding his involvement in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’. Ruffalo, known for his portrayal of Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk, in the MCU, has confirmed that he misspoke regarding his participation in the film.

Originally, Ruffalo’s statement seemed to suggest his appearance alongside Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson in the upcoming movie, which many speculated could be laying the groundwork for a “World War Hulk” storyline. However, it’s now been clarified that Ruffalo will not be part of ‘Captain America: Brave New World’.

The film itself, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’, continues the storyline initiated in Disney+’s ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’, focusing on Sam Wilson’s journey as he takes on the mantle of Captain America in a changing world.

Nevertheless, fans remain intrigued by hints suggesting the presence of multiple Hulk variants in the MCU, potentially including the Red Hulk, portrayed by Harrison Ford, and the return of characters like Betty Ross and Samuel Sterns. This has fueled speculation about future storylines, including the possibility of a confrontation between Bruce Banner and Thaddeus Ross, albeit perhaps not in a solo Hulk film.

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is slated for release in theaters on February 14, 2025, promising to offer further expansion of the MCU narrative.
