In James Gunn’s DC Universe, the search for Supergirl has ended with the casting of House of Dragon star Milly Alcock in the role of Kara Zor-el for “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.”
After screen tests featuring several talented actresses, including Emilia Jones and Meg Donnelly, Milly Alcock emerged as the chosen one for the iconic character. Known for her portrayal of the younger version of Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s House of the Dragon, Alcock impressed James Gunn with her auditions and screen tests.
Gunn confirmed Alcock’s casting and praised her talent, stating that she embodies Kara as envisioned. The upcoming Supergirl film is set to draw inspiration from the comic book of the same name by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, released in July 2023.
While there are speculations about Supergirl possibly appearing in other DC projects before her debut in “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” the movie is part of James Gunn’s ambitious slate titled “DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.” This slate also includes “Superman: Legacy,” “Batman: The Brave and the Bold,” and a television series featuring Viola Davis as Amanda Waller from Suicide Squad.
“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” marks an exciting addition to the DC Universe, although no release date has been announced yet.
