Netflix is reportedly working on a spinoff series based on their popular show “Wednesday,” featuring Jenna Ortega as a college-aged Wednesday Addams. The spinoff will focus on Uncle Fester, portrayed by Fred Armisen, a character introduced in the first season of “Wednesday.” While the project is still in early stages and awaiting official approval, Netflix is keen on expanding the Addams Family universe following the success of “Wednesday.”
The proposed Uncle Fester series is in its infancy, with writers yet to finalize the story and talent contracts still under negotiation. Meanwhile, “Wednesday” season 2 is gearing up for production in April 2024 in Ireland, shifting from its previous filming location in Romania.
Based on the iconic character from Charles Addams’ Addams Family franchise, “Wednesday” follows the titular character as she navigates her emerging psychic abilities, tackles local mysteries, and unravels supernatural secrets from her parents’ past. The first season received acclaim for its blend of dark humor and mystery, with a cast that includes Armisen, Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, and Jamie McShane. Release dates for both “Wednesday” season 2 and the Uncle Fester spinoff are yet to be announced.
