New 13-Episode ‘Thirteen Ghosts’ Revival Series Plans Announced

Dark Castle Entertainment is reviving its 2001 remake of “Thirteen Ghosts” in the form of a 13-episode series, delving into the backstory of each ghost featured in the film. Fans of the original remake, which starred Matthew Lillard among others, have long awaited such a project, and Dark Castle Entertainment is finally answering their demands.

The series, if greenlit, will not be a remake but rather a prequel/sequel that explores the pasts of the eerie ghosts featured in the film. The revival plan was first reported by Dread Central on August 10, with concept images unveiled and details of the creative team involved. Patrick Mediate from Primordial Pictures, along with Aaron McLane and Ashley Robinson from Fear the Walking Dead, are set to work on the project.

The series aims to pitch to Sony Pictures Television once ongoing strikes by the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA are resolved. The planned series promises to offer a diverse range of ghost stories from different cultures around the world, each with its own unique stylistic look and feel influenced by individual directors. This approach will set the theme for each episode, providing fans with a fresh take on the supernatural tales.

While the “Thirteen Ghosts” revival series has yet to be officially greenlit, the prospect of exploring the rich lore of the ghosts from the original remake has fans eagerly anticipating its potential release.
