Josh Brolin, renowned for portraying iconic characters like Cable in Deadpool 2 and Avengers’ Thanos, recently disclosed that his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) was initially intended as a brief cameo rather than the central figure he became in projects like Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.
During an episode of Tony Hawk’s Hawk vs Wolf show, Brolin explained that when he first took on the role of Thanos, it was meant to be a nod to the comics, described as “a little cameo.” The actor revealed receiving a “massive bible” of Marvel lore, detailing the character’s background.
Brolin candidly shared that, initially, he may not have been as excited if it was just a regular character in the MCU. However, the prospect of portraying a major nemesis against the MCU heroes intrigued him. Reflecting on the idea, he stated, “The fact that it was this guy against all those guys? I go ‘Yeah, that’s really cool, and why not?’” Despite uncertainty about when Thanos became the focal point, Brolin provided intriguing insights into his journey within the MCU’s Infinity Saga.
