Sony and Marvel Studios are set to merge once more, this time on a larger scale, in Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man film. According to industry insider Daniel RPK, Spider-Man 4 will tie into various Sony Spider-Verse projects, expanding the interconnected universe.
Sony’s Spider-Man Universe includes films like Morbius, Venom, Madame Web, and Kraven the Hunter. Holland’s Spider-Man 4 will reportedly connect to these Sony projects, suggesting a significant expansion of the Spider-Verse.
Previous multiverse events, like those in No Way Home, introduced Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and classic Sony Spidey villains to the MCU. While some saw this as closure, others view it as the start of larger crossovers between Sony and Marvel.
The animated Spider-Verse movies, featuring characters like Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy, also hint at further crossovers. Teases of connections between live-action and animated universes, like in Venom and the Lego Spider-Man universe, add to the speculation.
While Venom’s appearance in No Way Home hinted at a shared universe, it also hinted at larger issues in the Spider-Verse. This could pave the way for future team-ups among Spider-People.
The merging of Sony’s Spider-Verse and the MCU may culminate in Avengers: Secret Wars, promising an epic scale akin to Endgame. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 release date is yet to be announced.
