Top 15 Most Hated Movie Characters

15. Norman Stansfield (Leon: The Professional)

This pill-popping DEA agent is a one-man wrecking crew of corruption and chaos. With his twisted sense of morality and penchant for violence, Stansfield makes you question whether you’re rooting for the good guys or the bad guys. Just don’t get on his bad side unless you have a bulletproof vest and a backup plan.

14. Colonel Miles Quaritch (Avatar)

The epitome of the power-hungry military stereotype, Quaritch is the guy who thinks the solution to every problem is “shoot first, ask questions never.” His disregard for Pandora’s indigenous species and ruthless pursuit of profit make him the least likely candidate for a “Best Boss” mug.

13. Darla (Finding Nemo)

This fish-killing menace with a penchant for tapping on glass just can’t leave poor little Nemo alone. From her annoyingly high-pitched voice to her complete lack of empathy for aquatic life, Darla embodies every annoying child you’ve ever encountered at an aquarium.

12. Scar (The Lion King)

The jealous brother with a chip on his shoulder, Scar’s devious machinations and regicidal tendencies make him the ultimate Disney villain. With his suave demeanor and killer one-liners, Scar is the feline equivalent of a Shakespearean villain, except with more singing hyenas.

11. Jar Jar Binks (Star Wars)

Meesa Jar Jar, the clumsy Gungan whose antics make you wish you were in a galaxy far, far away. Whether he’s accidentally causing chaos or grating on your nerves with his broken English, Jar Jar is the prime example of how one character can simultaneously unite fans in their disdain.

10. Mouth of Sauron (LOTR)

With his gloomy attire and unsettling appearance, the Mouth of Sauron is the last person you’d want representing your evil overlord. A sinister emissary of the Dark Lord, his creepy visage and ominous pronouncements earn him a spot on the list.

9. Rita Skeeter (Harry Potter)

The queen of sensationalist journalism, Rita Skeeter’s knack for twisting the truth and invading people’s privacy makes her the bane of every wizard’s existence. From her acid-green Quick-Quotes Quill to her garish fashion sense, Rita is the tabloid hack you’d love to see silenced with a well-aimed hex.

8. Bella Swan (Twilight)

Oh, Bella, the epitome of teenage angst and indecision. Her lack of personality and perpetual frown make her the ultimate damsel in distress. Whether she’s clumsily stumbling into danger or pining after sparkly vampires, Bella’s ability to attract trouble is rivaled only by her ability to attract eyerolls.

7. Koba (Planet of the Apes)

The bitter, vengeful bonobo with a chip on his shoulder, Koba’s thirst for power and hatred towards humans make him a formidable foe for Caesar and his band of ape allies. With his scarred visage and ruthless tactics, Koba is the ape equivalent of a supervillain, except with less banana-based puns.

6. Denethor II (Lord of the Rings)

Gondor’s grumpy old steward, Denethor II, takes pessimism to a whole new level. From his disdain for his son Faramir to his unhealthy obsession with his favorite snack (cue the cherry tomatoes), Denethor’s leadership skills leave much to be desired. Who needs the Eye of Sauron when you have this guy ruining morale?

5. Dolores Umbridge (Harry Potter)

Known for her cruel and tyrannical behavior as the Hogwarts High Inquisitor, Dolores Umbridge is the epitome of every strict teacher you’ve ever had nightmares about. With her sickly sweet demeanor and love for pink, she’s the villain you just love to hate.

4. Ramsay Bolton (Game of Thrones)

The sadistic bastard (literally) of House Bolton, Ramsay’s depravity knows no bounds. From his penchant for flaying his enemies alive to his twisted relationship with Sansa Stark, Ramsay’s villainy makes Joffrey look like a choirboy. With his wicked grin and love for mind games, Ramsay is the psychopath you love to hate.

3. Alfrid Lickspittle (The Hobbit)

A slimy, conniving weasel of a man, Alfrid Lickspittle is the personification of everything you hate about bureaucratic lackeys. From his sycophantic behavior towards the Master of Lake-town to his general uselessness in times of crisis, Alfrid is the last person you’d want to share an ale with at the local tavern.

2. Peter Pettigrew (Harry Potter)

A rat-faced traitor of epic proportions, Pettigrew is the ultimate sniveling coward. He sold out his best friends to Voldemort, literally cutting off his own hand to do so. His spinelessness and betrayal make him a character you just want to squish like, well, a rat.

1. Joffrey Baratheon (Game of Thrones)

The bratty boy king everyone loves to hate. With his cruel antics and twisted sense of entitlement, Joffrey reigns supreme as the most punchable face in Westeros. From ordering executions for sport to tormenting Sansa Stark, he’s the poster child for bad parenting and power gone wrong.
