Just days after signing a non-exclusive deal with Warner Bros., Tom Cruise seems poised to continue his high-flying adventures, with a new instalment in the Top Gun franchise reportedly in development.
Decades after the cult success of Top Gun (1986) and the critical acclaim of its sequel, Top Gun: Maverick, Puck News has reported that Top Gun 3 is currently in the works at Paramount Pictures. The screenplay, crafted by Ehren Kruger (co-scriptwriter of Top Gun: Maverick), is expected to bring back Tom Cruise as the daring Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, along with co-stars Miles Teller and Glen Powell.
While Cruise is engaged in multiple projects, including an outer-space venture with NASA, Top Gun 3’s development began after the SAG-AFTRA strike concluded in late fall. With Cruise’s packed schedule, his involvement with Warner Bros. may not materialize until at least later in 2026, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next exhilarating chapter in the iconic Top Gun saga.
As of now, Top Gun 3 does not have a confirmed release date, adding to the anticipation surrounding this thrilling continuation of the beloved aviation franchise.
