The upcoming film hits theaters on June 7, marking the return of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence to the big screen. Smith, 55, confirmed that shooting for the fourth installment of the Bad Boys franchise has officially wrapped up. He shared the news in an Instagram post alongside Lawrence, 58, standing near Chicago’s Navy Pier.
The original Bad Boys debuted in 1995, featuring Smith as Mike Lowrey and Lawrence as Marcus Burnett, Miami detectives tackling drug trafficking and crime. The film’s success led to sequels in 2003 and 2020.
After years of speculation, Smith and Lawrence confirmed the fourth film’s production in a viral video on Jan. 31, 2023. They playfully lamented naming the third film Bad Boys for Life, realizing they could have saved the title for this installment.
Filming took place in various cities, including Atlanta and Miami. The duo couldn’t attend CinemaCon in Las Vegas due to being four weeks into shooting, jokingly expressing relief. Smith also missed the 2023 Grammy Awards for filming commitments.
The production faced delays due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, but it continued afterward. Bad Boys 4 also features Vanessa Hudgens, Melanie Liburd, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Núnez, Jacob Scipio, Eric Dane, and Ioan Gruffudd.
