Blue Beetle fans, get ready for some exciting news! Xolo Maridueña, known for his role in Cobra Kai, has confirmed at the Saturn Awards that Blue Beetle will be appearing in future films within James Gunn’s DC Universe.
In an interview with Screen Rant on the red carpet, Maridueña, who won the award for Best Younger Actor, expressed confidence that fans will see Blue Beetle soon, thanks to being “graciously folded” into Gunn and Peter Safran’s new universe.
Initially, Blue Beetle wasn’t slated to be part of the live-action DC Universe reboot. However, due to fan support, things changed. Despite Blue Beetle not breaking even at the box office, Maridueña’s portrayal left an impact on Gunn and Safran.
Gunn previously mentioned on Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast that Blue Beetle would be the first character in the DCU, followed by Superman: Legacy. Fans speculate on where Blue Beetle will debut, possibly in the post-credits of Superman: Legacy.
While Maridueña has returned to filming Cobra Kai, his potential return as Jaime Reyes in the role of Blue Beetle is eagerly anticipated. Filming for Superman: Legacy is set to commence in March.
Exciting times are ahead as Blue Beetle becomes a key player in James Gunn’s DC Universe, promising thrilling adventures for fans in the years to come.
