Zack Snyder reveals plans to “do an official Director’s Cut” for ‘Sucker Punch’

Zack Snyder has revealed his intentions to revisit his 2011 film, “Sucker Punch,” and create a director’s cut version with a reshoot of the ending involving the original cast. Despite facing criticism upon its initial release and performing below expectations at the box office, “Sucker Punch” garnered a cult following after its home release.

In a conversation with Total Film (via Inverse), Snyder discussed his plans to collaborate with Warner Bros. on reshooting final scenes for “Sucker Punch,” featuring original cast members Emily Browning and Abby Cornish. This initiative follows the release of an extended edition of the film.

Snyder expressed his enthusiasm for enhancing the film further, stating, “Even though we did an extended version, it’s not the fully realized movie.” He added, “I think it’s good [if] I can get those guys, Emily [Browning] and Abby [Cornish], and the crew back in, some reshoots would be amazing.”

Snyder has a history of revisiting his projects to offer audiences alternate cuts aligned with his original vision, as demonstrated by the 2021 release of “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.” He has also revisited other films such as the 2004 “Dawn of the Dead” remake and “Watchmen” in 2009. Currently, Snyder is planning alternate cuts for his latest Netflix project, “Rebel Moon.”

Although no official release date has been announced for the director’s cut of “Sucker Punch,” Snyder’s dedication to refining his creative works suggests an eagerly awaited endeavor for fans.
